Founded by Ingvar Kamprad in Sweden in 1943, IKEA first came to Ireland in 2009. Specialising in ready-to-assemble, flat-packed furniture, it has been considered the world's largest furniture retailer since 2008. There are two stores in the Republic of Ireland, a showroom and warehouse in Ballymun, Dublin and an order and collection point in Carrickmines, Dublin. If you can’t go to Dublin, you can do your shopping online and avail of their delivery service. There is also a store in Belfast and rumours of one coming to Cork, but these have not been confirmed.

Offering a large range of home furniture, such as beds and mattresses, wardrobes, storage solutions, kitchens and appliances, bathroom products, textiles, cookware and tableware, lighting, home electronics, rugs, mats and flooring. Their services include assembly, delivery, planning, installation, removal, recycling and van rental. A full range of their products can be found in their catalogue.

Ikea is different to other furniture shops as everything comes flat-packed, with easy to assemble instructions. It has allowed people to do all of their furniture shopping online. They have brochures for each room (kitchens brochure, bathroom brochure, etc.), so their customers can see the full range of their products. They also have special offers from time to time and clearance sales.

The only store in the Republic of Ireland is in Ballymun in Dublin 11. It opens every day at 10 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. on Friday, 8 p.m. on Sunday and 9 p.m. on all other days. Their order and collection point is located in Carrickmines in Dublin 18, open 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day, apart from Sunday when it closes at 7 p.m. For more information about the full range of the products and services which they offer, as well as any special offers running at the moment, please check out their website https://www.ikea.com.
